Vaginal rejuvenation procedures are gaining popularity. Many different types of vaginal rejuvenation procedures are available. Each has a different set of benefits and risks not to mention its share of critics and advocates.
1. Hymenorhaphy/artificial hymen with or without microsuture techniques. Conventional suture repair techniques may be detectable by examining physicians who use specialized magnification instruments. Microsuture techniques are not detectable-but are more time consuming and therefore pricier. Conventional artificial hymen costs are $2,500. Microsuture artificial hymen is $5,000.
2. Vaginal Tightening (vaginorrhaphy or vaginal fat transfer). The average length and diameter of the erect penis is 5.8 inches long(14.7 cm) with a diameter of 1.6″ (4 cm). For women who have never had a vaginal delivery, the average vaginal length is 5 inches (12.7 cm) and diameter is .6-1.18 inches (1.5-3 cm). However, after vaginal delivery, the vaginal diameter has to stretch enough to accommodate the head of a baby (4 inches or 10 cm). Consequently, after delivery the vaginal diameter triples in size forever!
In vaginorrhaphy, the vaginal vault is re-tightened to an average diameter of 4 cm (from 10 cm) with permanent sutures. If the patient has a more specific diameter in mind, the patient is encouraged to brings a penile prosthetic (dildo) for sizing.
Fat transfer to the vagina may also be used-instead of sutures. The advantage of fat transfer is that fat can be subsequently added (for tightening) or removed (to loosen).
Vaginorrhaphy (tightening wih sutures) costs $5,000. Fat transfer costs $2,500. Recovery is immediate for both. Frequently, vaginal tightening is performed together with tummy tuck or liposuction procedures.
3. Simple labiaplasty (excision of excess skin of labia minora) is $2,800 as a stand alone procedure-$2,000 when performed with related procedures (because of shared anesthesia and instruments).
4. Labial reconstruction. This includes adding or subtracting volume to the labia majora or pubic area. Consultation and examination are required for cost estimates here.
5. Repair of scarring conditions. Conventional scar revision with pixel laser resurfacing apply.
6. Painless laser hair removal
7. Removal of condylomas and warts. Typically insurance pays for this procedure.
8. Tubal Ligation, to prevent pregnancy.
9. Tubal repair, to restore fertility.
10. Hysterectomy-which may be performed with tummy tuck.
