Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) of the Neck and Decolletage

After the face, the upper back, neck and decoltage are the most common areas of photodamage. Sun damage may result in dark discoloration, “freckles” and “age spots” or solar keratosis-a premalignant condition.

Phototherapy by intense pulse light (IPL) is the treatment of choice for photodamage to these areas. Up to 70% of “age spots” and “freckles” may flake off after the first treatment. The flaking off process takes 5-14 days.

Case 2: Removal of freckles and solar keratosis of the Neck. IPL phototherapy is the treatment of choice for freckles as well as age spots. The patient shown here is 2 weeks after the second photofacial session.
