Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) of Hands, Forearms, Shoulder

The forearms and and hands may get a lot higher solar radiation than the arms, which may result in a obvious demarcation zone of hyperpigmentation and age spot formation. IPL can treat the overexposed areas (e.g. forearms and hands) so as to bring the overexposed areas back to the same complexion of the rest of the body.

Aging of the hand may present unique problems:

  1. Photodamage of the hand may need to be corrected with IPL.
  2. Loss of volume (between the carpal bones) may need to be corrected with fat transfer.
  3. Skin laxity may need to be treated with radio frequency skin tightening

Case 3: IPL phototherapy of the Hand. Brown spots respond very well to IPL. The patient shown here had just one treatment of IPL photofacial.
